I believe that banking institutions are far more unsafe to our liberties than standing armies. If the American men and women ever permit personal banking institutions to management the problem of their currency, initial by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and firms that will develop up about [the banking institutions] will deprive the folks of all residence till their kids wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.
